Times change quickly. After spending a year in Gaza I have decided to now consult on international procurement. My first project was to draft the Procurement Manual for Save the Children. Once this was completed they requested me to go to Kabul, Afghanistan to train the national staff in procurement and complete a tendering process for their emergency needs during the flood season. This is ongoing at this time, but will be completed soon. What's next nobody knows, but it sure is becoming interesting!

2010 is the year of change ---- becoming an empty nester with my daughter Duvall joining my son Will (a junior) at NC State, married 25 years to Kay and turning 50. For those brothers near my age or older you'll know what I mean when I say "Where did the time go?".

Brothers,
Bleary eyed, I was flipping though the sports section of the Post-Intelligencer here in Seattle a couple of days before Christmas when I came upon the attached article. I found the picture amusing and then moved on, but there was an unsettled felling in my gut. I went back and read the caption and nearly choked on my cornflakes. Metalhead lives!

I am a partner in the Charlotte law firm of Horack Talley, specializing in creditors' rights, bankruptcy, and business litigation. I am also involved in several commercial and residential real estate development projects. I am married to my high school sweetheart, Ticie, whom many of the brothers will remember from our undergrad days. We have three boys, ages 9, 10 and 12. With our hectic school and sports schedules, we don't get out much, but I do manage to stay in touch with brother Keith Kiser, '85.

I continue to be self employed as owner of two construction companies: Blue Water Construction in South Carolina and Carter Construction in North Carolina. We are general contractors specializing in resort home construction in the Myrtle Beach area as well as the south Brunswick Island area around Holden Beach and Ocean Isle. I also maintain a home and construction operation in Fayetteville, N.C., but spend most of my time at our home in Holden Beach. My wife, Janet (UNC '85 and a Sig Ep little sister), and I will celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary on July 16th this year. I am in the book in both locations and would love to have any brothers visit us at Holden. I mostly fish and drink beer on the weekends ? somethings never change! Take care.

Chris will graduate from High Point Central High School June 1st and attend NC State University in the fall. Spencer will be a freshman at High Point Central this fall. We spend a lot of time on a soccer field on the weekends watching the boys. I communicate with two Sig Eps on a regular basis: Tim Jones and Steve Scott. I hope to be able to come to Chapel Hill for games more often now that Saturdays will be free. I would love to see some of the guys who were there in 80-81.

I am director of sales and care-small business for Sprint Corporation in Kansas City. My oldest daughter, Mary-Forbes, is a sophomore at the University of Florida and pledged Alpha Chi Omega. I took the family to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for several weeks in March and experienced a high-rise hotel fire and a near-crash landing in Sao Paulo, so the Harrell vacations remain fun and exciting. From Kansas City, we say ""Good bye Roy Williams and good luck back home in Chapel Hill!"" My phone number is (913) 794-5688.
