My name is Austin Hampton, and I am from Washington, D.C. I am a journalism and mass communications major focusing on advertising and economics. I became a member of NC Delta last fall as a freshman.

Have you held any other officer positions?
Before the chapter elected me president at the end of the fall, I was previously the chapter’s risk manager and served on the recruitment team.

What challenges/opportunities does the chapter have?
I think the chapter has a great opportunity to increase its campus and community involvement by partnering with other organizations in the IFC and other Greek councils.

What does this responsibility (president role) mean to you?
As president, I hope to lead the charge forward and continue to promote a positive image for NC Delta moving forward.

What is one thing that most people don’t know about you?
Before I wanted to work in marketing or consulting, I had dreamed of writing novels and actually entered Carolina as an English major.

I’d also like the alumni to know about our upcoming philanthropy event, Slugfest, an NC Delta staple and annual philanthropy event. We will hold it at the house on Friday, April 17, 2015. In the past, Slugfest has been everything from a softball tournament to a beach party. This year, Slugfest will be an all-day beach volleyball tournament and music festival, with the proceeds going to the winning team’s choice of charity. Any support and donations would be very much appreciated!
